To celebrate Girl Scout Founder, Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low’s birthday, Huron Brownie Troop 50027 hosted a Juliette Gordon Low Tribute and Birthday Party wearing historic Girl Scout attire and created individual birthday kits to donate to families in need in the Huron area.

Each bag contains Cake mix, frosting, foil cake pan, candy cake decorations, candles, balloons, napkins, birthday banner, hats, noise makers, table cloth, Girl Scout cookies and an unwrapped present.

Huron Girl Scouts participated in this special nationwide community service project in honor of Juliette Gordon Low.  The Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthday-in-a-Bag project was started by Girl Scout Troop 40710 from Wichita, Kansas to honor her birthday during the 100th year of Girl Scouting.

A GSUSA destination
Channel Islands Adventure

This past summer, Ashley Limmer, Ambassador Girl Scout from Brandon, SD, participated in an exciting 7-day adventure off the coast of California. An excerpt from her journal:

“Today we went kayaking. The instructors took us through so many caves and little inlets. On trips through two caves, Emily (my kayak partner) and I almost flipped. We kept hitting the sides of the caves and had to use our paddles to push off from the rock because the barnacles would cut your hands. But luckily, no one fell in! While kayaking we saw jelly fish, sea stars, sea birds and seals.”

Advice from Ashley to girls who are applying for a destination: “Don’t be worried about the other girls not accepting or liking you. All Girl Scouts are nice and will like you for you.” To view all 2012 destination opportunities, visit www.girlscouts.org/forgirls/travel/destinations.
