what is girl scouts?

what is girl scouts?

Girl Scouting is fun, but it’s much more than that. It’s an opportunity for girls in grades K-12 to develop important life skills, discover themselves, and make a difference in the world around them. Through engaging programs and activities, we help today’s girls become tomorrow’s leaders.

Girl Scouts positively impacts girls by:

  • Fostering healthy behaviors and practical life skills
  • Offering girl-led activities in a girl-only environment
  • Providing girls a physically and emotionally safe place to find their voice and values
  • Expanding cultural awareness, math, and science skills
  • Connecting girls, young women, and adults to explore issues that are important to them
  • Developing leadership qualities and a sense of empowerment

As a Girl Scout, you can:

  • Earn awards & badges
  • Volunteer in your community
  • Go to camp
  • Take field trips to museums, festivals, and theaters or travel across the country or around the world
  • Learn real-life business skills through the Cookie Sale Program

The Girl Scout experience is girl-driven, which means it reflects the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls.  Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
